3 reasons to share Medical.watch with your MSLs

Best practices and tips for MSL managers

After our post on How MSL teams use Medical.watch, some of you asked why managers should share Medical.watch with their MSL teams.

Today, we’ll share 3 reasons why you should give access to your MSLs.

Let’s get to it.

1. See trending topics in your disease

When planning for interactions, it's important for your MSLs to know what topics are driving the conversation online. For example, are HCPs attending a conference? Discussing a guideline? Excited about a study?

Since the online conversation evolves constantly, it's best to share with your MSLs quickly. This raises the level of knowledge on your team and minimizes delays.

"There's a need for speed with insights…the half-life of an insight is very short in terms of being meaningful.” Kirk Shepard, former Chief Medical Officer at Eisai

Staying on top of trending topics leads to better interactions with your HCPs.

2. View trending topics in your territory

Just as it's important to follow the global conversation, it's also important to know what HCPs in your territory are saying. For example, is the clinical environment in your territory different than in academic centers like Boston?

During the pandemic, many community oncologists didn't attend ASCO or other conferences. This led to knowledge gaps in some communities.

Being aware of trending topics in your territory leads to better relationships with your HCPs.

3. Make the most of your team's experience

Social media insights can come from different stakeholders and countries. This means your insights will span different topics such as the clinical environment, data gaps, treatment paradigms and more.

So when you’re assessing insights, it's best to share with your team and ask for their comments. Avoid relying on one person’s limited perspective.

Leveraging your team's diverse experiences leads to better insights.
